I had just started to warm up leftover meat loaf in the microwave for my 2 year old when not 30 seconds into it I heard 'the sound'. It was a popping snapping sound that you would associate with an electrical short. I just froze & tried to detect the area it was coming from, when I thought it might be the Microwave. So I ran over and stopped the microwave. Then the burning electrical smell hit my nose and it wasn't coming from the microwave.
I followed the smell to the electrical outlet on the kitchen counter where we have the coffee pot plugged into. NO WAY, this couldnt be for real. So I decided to start the microwave again to see if the smell, the sound and the outlet had anything to do with the microwave running. And what i discovered was shocking. Literally!!
Within seconds of the microwave going the snapping sound accompanied with Sparks shot out from around the electric outlet on the wall. I immediately stopped the microwave and went RUNNING for my husband. I told him what was going on and he didn't believe me at first. No way could the microwave cause issues like that on the other side of the room. I followed him into the kitchen and the smell confirmed my story. He of course had to witness the sound and sparks for himself, which meant starting the microwave again. MEN!! **honestly he got some form of excitement out of that. I on the other hand was terrified. **
He said "I can fix that" and proceeded to take apart the outlet. He started the microwave again, with flashlight in hand, just so he could get 'a good look' at the situation and to see where the sparks were coming from 'exactly'. Next thing i know he says, "You cant use the microwave for a while." (My first thought was, Duh.) and then he said "I'm heading to Home Depot".
So right now my hubby is out at the local Home Depot in 28 degree ICY weather to get whatever it is he needs to fix whatever it is in the electric outlet that is causing sparks in the kitchen. Crazy huh? Needless to say, I just want him to fix it so my house doesn't catch fire while I am microwaving dinner.
SHOCKING!!!
***UPDATE***
My Super-Handyman-Hubbin' fixed the burnt wire, replace the outlet and we now have a NON-Sparking outlet again AND I can use the microwave! WOOHOO!!! GO My SUPER-HANDYMAN- HUBBIN'. I Love you!

I agree with the men comment. Have to see it for themselves. Isn't that amazing how God designed them to think like that. God love them though.
